Today was our first revenue shoot with the DJI X5! We left Eugene, Oregon this morning and headed south to a farm in Southern Oregon to take some photos of the property. Our Eugene Oregon aerial photography has been taken to new heights with the DJI X5 camera upgrade, and we are excited at what the future holds!
Southern Oregon Drone recently invested in a brand new aerial camera upgrade. Since May of 2016, Southern Oregon Drone has been utilizing the DJI X3 camera on our DJI Inspire 1 drone. While the camera is excellent for how compact it is, producing videos and photos such as this and this, we feel that we have outgrown the X3 as our primary camera, so we have decided to invest in the DJI X5, a Micro 4/3 camera capable of using various lenses.
The upgrades include larger and more crisp photos, sharper video, the ability to use various lenses, and better low-light abilities. The camera and lens are a little heavier than the X3, so flight times may see a slight decrease, but that will not be an issue, as we have many batteries and have never been in a situation where we ran out of juice before we had what we needed.
Below is a comparison of specs between the DJI X3 and the DJI X5. We will still use the DJI X3 for certain applications and as a backup camera, but for now we are excited to begin the next chapter at Southern Oregon Drone with the DJI X5!

While snorkeling on a trip to the Cayman Islands, I found a GoPro camera about 13 feet underwater. I was able to recover the micro SD card and found some photos of the owners (pictured above). Apparently they stopped at Grand Cayman during a Carnival Cruise in October of 2015. Video footage shows they lost the GoPro while riding a wave runner/jet ski. Apparently one of them fell off and dropped the camera, and it sunk.
Its incredible that the GoPro survived for over a year and a half underwater and still functions! The case is pretty trashed, but the inside is untouched.
I would love to find these people and return the GoPro and their photos and videos to them, so please spread the word! If you know who they are, or they find this post, contact me here. Thanks!
