- Our drone's relatively small size and optical sensors allow us to fly very precisely in tighter spaces, so we can capture nearly any shot you need.
As of August 2015, Southern Oregon Drone operates a DJI Phantom 3 Professional. At first glance, our drone might look small - but don't let that throw you off. This quadcopter (referring to the 4 motors it uses) is capable of flying at altitudes of nearly 20,000 feet above sea level (though we never would!) and can be controlled from over 1.2 miles away from the operator. Depending on the wind, our drone can exceed ground speeds of 60 miles an hour!
There are so many great professional systems out there, so why did we choose this one? Simply put, this one just made the most sense.

- Our drone has one of the longest battery lives in the industry, so we can keep on flying while others would have to land and recharge or change batteries.
- Our drone's relatively small size and optical sensors allow us to fly very precisely in tighter spaces, so we can capture nearly any shot you need.
- The camera - capable of 4K resolution and frame rates up to 60 per second - is also one of the most powerful airborne cameras in production, and is nearly identical to those found on larger systems.
- Our drone can be setup and ready to fly in under 1 minute. Most drones require setup and assembly that takes up to 5 minutes - not good for spontaneity!
- Operation is permitted between 32 degrees Fahrenheit and 104 degrees Fahrenheit and only requires one operator
- Finally, this drone is safe. It is extremely reliable and utilizes the USA's satellite system as well as GLONASS to return to a predetermined safe "home point" in case of radio failure. This is DJI's newest and safest product, and their R&D department invested millions of dollars into it's design and testing. They built into it numerous fail-safe features that one will not find on any home-made or boutique drone builder's systems. The only thing that could make it more safe is an experienced pilot who is licensed to fly it - and that is exactly what we have.
